Housing for homeless poor coastal families
The project envisaged existential security to families living in deplorable conditions lacking basic minimum shelter in vulnerable urban coastal slums. In this respect, the project sought to provide single room houses with kitchen and toilet attached to 25 most deserving families. Families are mostly headed by women. All the 25 houses were planned to be constructed in the coastal village of Thankey in the existing plots itself owned by the selected poor bene ciary families. The houses were uniform in size having plinth area of 18.9 square meters, apportioned 3,32 m x 2,7 m for living room, 2,5 m x 1,8 m for kitchen and 1,2 m x 1,2 m for attached toilet.
